Making Family Christmas Gift Baskets - A Primer
When designing Christmas baskets be creative. Do not ever just toss things together. It will look sloppy and unprofessional. Try to think of unique ways to make your basket stand out. When placing your gifts in the container remember to add something solid, like styrofoam or bunched up paper to the bottom. This will prevent your items from falling into the container and out of sight by allowing them to sit higher and be seen. Doing this, will not only look pleasing but also serve as a centerpiece if the recipient chooses.
When imagining your basket, remember you can actually use any type of container you wish. It does not have to be a basket. Think of a container that not only is attractive to the eye but can also be useful after the gifts are removed. Some examples are a large serving bowl, a flower pot, or a decorated tote bag. These are all wonderful choices and add something extra to your present. Try to choose your container based on the them of the items you are placing in it.
Once you’ve selected the basket, the more difficult tasks of selecting contents to fill the container arise. Food products are the most popular choice for a basket, but be careful to use foods that won’t spoil while in the basket. The best choices for a Christmas basket are items like chocolates, preserves, and dry goods like cookies, crackers, and other types of biscuits. Teas and coffees also make good filler items depending on the tastes of the recipient.
When finalizing the design of the basket, you can use a few different items to add a touch of design class to the items to make the contents look more festive. Many people use colorful seasonal ribbons and crepe papers to line the bottom of the baskets to make the items within look better. A colorful wrap around the basket, whether you use a shrink wrap to seal the contents or some other material to cover the outside, can also add some charm to the gift basket.
When organizing your present choose a central color scheme. Bright red and green look very well together and so do dark blues and purples. Do not just throw pastel and vibrant colors together. Make sure the colors compliment each other. You can also give a defining look to your basket when choosing shapes. Use a wide variety of shapes and sizes. To give it a unique look add some oddly shaped items as well.
Baskets are a universal gift and popular among many individual as well as businesses. Because you can do as much or as little as you like with a basket people are drawn to them. For business, they are an easy solution to send in bulk. You do not have to know someone very well to pick out a great basket for them.
