Preparing Your Best Halloween Costume

by Angela Rabson

Preparations for Halloween are often so exciting. Thinking of the perfect costume can be so much fun! Often, all of the preparation that goes into creating your perfect costume can wind up being more fun than actually wearing your costume!

Some of the parts of your costume, you might already own! You can dig through your old things to find that perfect black skirt or those old black shoes that would look perfect for a witch’s costume. And then you might go to a costume shop to buy a witch’s hat and after that a ladies clothing shop to find the perfect, spooky black blouse to wear with it all! And maybe you’ve decided to dye your hair black, just temporarily for the one evening. You could go to the beauty shop and get some spray-on hair dye. And while there, you could pick up some spooky black fingernails to press on to your fingertips.

Now, shopping around town and digging through the backs of your closets and pulling it altogether is definitely fun. But the afternoon of the event, actually putting it all on – that can be a real blast, too! After all of this excitement – the shopping, the dying of your hair, etc. – the party itself might just be a letdown! You may have begun to feel like a costume designer on Broadway – or at least, like you should be one!
