Discover Why Your Dream Wedding Should Be Held in Kenya
Kenya is a country that offers its visitors the right combination of stunning scenes and romantic hotels that are easily accessible to its visitors. For those planning a wedding in Kenya, this is the perfect opportunity for the bride and groom and guests alike to experience firsthand the romance associated with a Kenyan safari. On the outset, organizing a wedding in Kenya can seem such a daunting task but I have been arranging them for many years and would like to share my experience.
The country has many private game lodges and sanctuaries that visitors can take advantage of and organize a special wedding honeymoon package that suits their needs. Kenya is also one of the prime honeymoon destinations in Africa. Couples will not be disappointed and will find many places where they can have their own paradise where they can enjoy peace and privacy.
When planning a wedding, couples should let their imaginations run wild for their wedding to be truly memorable. One of the major issues to consider when organizing a wedding in Kenya is the backdrop for the special day. Some of the options to consider include beach, the bush, riverbanks, tented wilderness camps or in remote safari locations. The choices are many.
Weddings in Kenya can be conducted in many ways including having it on the beach barefoot, relaxing under the canvas or even have it in the traditional formal black ties and wedding gowns. Because of its mix of formality and wilderness experience, this has becomes Kenya’s trademark of a romantic safari lifestyle which makes it easy to arrange a honeymoon or wedding in Kenya.
For example, when a wedding is held in one of the beach resorts at the coast, the reception area of the hotel is completely transformed into a wedding chapel decorated with local tropical flowers. The marriage registrar or local pastor officiates over a wonderfully informal ceremony followed by a garden reception. The reception is also an opportunity to enjoy a delicious Kenyan sea food buffet with an evening’s dancing bringing to an end a most relaxed and happy occasion.
Below is one of the options that the wedding couples might consider. This is where they hold their wedding ceremony in Galdessa Camp that is located in Tsavo East national park.
Memorable Dream Wedding at Galdessa Camp
Galdessa Camp is a small luxury tented lodge that is located in the Tsavo East national park. The camp has eight spacious “bandas” that are constructed under the shade of the doum palm trees. The camps are spacious, comfy and fresh to the visitor. All the tented lodges face the Yatta Plateau, which is said to be the world’s largest lava flow.
The camps walls are made out of canvas and its mosquito nets are set tastefully in timber frames. Its thatched roofs, natural woods, mosquito netting and stone tablets create a romantic interior that enhances the contacts and rhythms with the wild outside.
Another romantic room is the honeymoon suite which has its own sitting room, a platform to view the wildlife and a water wallow. This is one of the few camps that is found in one of the best successful conservation projects in Kenya and as such is blessed to have about 48 black rhinos within its area.
For you to conduct a wedding in Kenya, the following documents are required; birth certificate, passports, Certificate of no Impediment, death certificate for those that have lost a spouse or decrees for those that have divorced.
The couple has to be in Kenya 3 working days before the intended day of the wedding and apply for a special wedding license. On the day of the wedding the couple will get the wedding certificate and after 4 working days a certified copy of the entry into the marriage registry.
