Gringo Guide to Speaking Spanish - Instantly know what to say!

by Dr Jay Polmar

My Story: I had a challenge. I needed to move to Mexico for my health and to retire, and I spoke English; I also knew a few words of French from high school, about 12 words of Spanish which could wind me up in fight or jail, yeah - mostly curse words.

Luckily, I met Reuben Varela, a well known Restauranteur at the Balneario Hot Springs in San Juan Cosala, Jalisco, Mexico and Gerardo Tolentino, an English teacher who was teaching 1st year English.

I was the gringo — and I sure needed a guide to get me through the experience of living in Mexico. We searched the internet, and books on Spanish, and listened to conversations in the English speaking sections of restaurants in Ajijic and San Miguel de Allende where most of the gringos hang out.

We searched the internet, and books on Spanish, and listened to conversations in the English speaking sections of restaurants in Ajijic and San Miguel de Allende where most of the gringos hang out.

We talked to Americans and Canadians in Mexico and asked them what they needed, and we listened to what they asked of the waiters, restaurant owners, etc. Later, then Gerardo accompanied me to doctors and we went to travel through Mexico.

Now, everyone I know who visits Mexico, Spanish or anywhere else in Latin America - can speak like a expat that lives in Mexico. It’s that easy.

MOR Vacations Grows at an Insane Rate

by Rob Franta

MOR Vacations is growing at a remarkable rate. I have been in this industry for almost 9 years now. I have seen my share of companies, products and opportunities come and go. I have seen some big companies launch and have been amazed at the interest from some of them. But nothing could have prepared me for what is now happening with M.O.R. Vacations.

In my nine years I can honestly say I have never seen anything like the pre launch or MOR Vacations. Why is that? I have my own beliefs here. I will explain. I first looked at and heard of M.O.R. Vacations on Tuesday Aug 12 2008. I heard from a friend that Johnny Bolton had left Global Resorts Network and moved to MOR Vacations. I was absolutely floored. Why would someone in Johnny’s position pack up and leave everything he had created over the last 18 months? Keep in mind I have been a leader in GRN for the same 18 months.

I knew I had to take a closer look at MOR Vacations. I called Johnny personally and listened to his reasoning. It made sense there were know issues that Global Resorts Network had and corporate GRN was doing little to rectify. They knew we needed and wanted, financing, bonuses, meetings, and the list goes on. They failed to provide us with any of these items even after numerous requests from many leaders in GRN

iBiza’s Blue Flag Beaches

by iBiza Joe

The Foundation for Environmental Education has been handing out it’s Blue Flags once again to those beaches it considers are the cleanest and safest. This year Spain came top with 77 flags for its marinas and a whopping 499 for it’s beaches.

iBiza got 18 which is a great achievement considering it’s size. The Balearics as a whole got 61.

They awarded over 3000 flag to thirty six countries across the world including South Africa, New Zealand and the Caribbean. I’d hate to be a judge on that panel. The flag is a symbol of quality.

The judging criteria deal with amongst others water quality, environmental management environmental education and information.

The beaches that did well in iBiza are as follows Benirras, Cala San Vicent, Portinax, Cala Llonga, Santa Eulalia beach, es FigueralCala Conta, Cala Bassa, Cala Tarida, Cala DHort and Cala Vadella.Salinas, Cala Gracio, es Calo des Moro, es Pouet, Cala Llenya, es Canar, San Miguel,
